Hugs

Hello again.  Just popping in to share a card with you that I made based on the middle colour combo.

I have always loved grey and yellow together, they just like salt and pepper- the perfect match.  So here is my take on.

For the background, I stamped these triangles stamp (My Favorite Things) repeatedly on a piece of fog cardstock from Simon Says Stamp, using Altenew grey inks (in the shades of Lava rock, Moon rock and Evening gray) for an ombre look.

Then I cut a piece of thick vellum to be just slightly longer than the cardstock, and foled the top over and adhered the top from the back.  I stamped some peonies from Altenew  Peony Scrolls on the vellum with embossing ink and Hero Arts white embossing powder, then heat set it.  I coloured the peonies with my Prismacolor pencils in two yellow shades.

I also white embossed my sentiment HUGS (Wplus9 – That is all set), and currently this sentiment stamp set is my favourite, I use it on most of my cards, I just love the hand painted bold font.

I added some sequins in the end, and adhered the front panel on to a cardbase.  That finished the card.

A question for you, how much stuff/how many tools do you use to make a card usually?  Well, these are the stuff I used to make this card (cardstock and vellum aren’t included):

I often laugh about myself and my obsession for craft supplies – why spent £2.50 to buy a card from a shop when you can use your £100 crafting tool to make one?!

Anyway, hope you like this card, see you soon on blogland.

Ta.

Using Negative Die-cut Pieces on Your Cards

Hello!  Today I’m going to share a set of cards with you that I used negative die-cut piece as my card front.

I bought Seasonal Sentiments Die set from Wplus9 last year (or you can get this set from Seven hills craft if you are from the UK), and made lots of Christmas cards using the die cut words, they are just the perfect size for me to work with, and they are just big enough on the card front as is, and your cards would still look stunning.  But this year I don’t want to make the same/similar cards again but I still want to make something with the set.  So here is what I came up with:

05577-14615875_1102073376536223_1442996405902448024_o

So I used 5×5 size cardbase (this size is currently my favourite size to work with) in deep red, deep green and navy, and trimmed some white/off white/cream cards to be just slightly smaller than the cards, and I positioned the dies in the upper middle part of the card pieces then ran them through my big shot.  Make sure you keep all the pieces.  I saved the words for other projects, but only used the negative pieces for the cards.  I also used the heart die that is included in the set and cut 3 times on some glitter card.  Then I assembled all the cards together with some glue and foam pads.  Quick and easy, perfect for mass-producing.

So that’s me today, I hope you like the set, and I will see you soon.

Take care.

Yiming
