Hugs

Hello again.  Just popping in to share a card with you that I made based on the middle colour combo.

I have always loved grey and yellow together, they just like salt and pepper- the perfect match.  So here is my take on.

For the background, I stamped these triangles stamp (My Favorite Things) repeatedly on a piece of fog cardstock from Simon Says Stamp, using Altenew grey inks (in the shades of Lava rock, Moon rock and Evening gray) for an ombre look.

Then I cut a piece of thick vellum to be just slightly longer than the cardstock, and foled the top over and adhered the top from the back.  I stamped some peonies from Altenew  Peony Scrolls on the vellum with embossing ink and Hero Arts white embossing powder, then heat set it.  I coloured the peonies with my Prismacolor pencils in two yellow shades.

I also white embossed my sentiment HUGS (Wplus9 – That is all set), and currently this sentiment stamp set is my favourite, I use it on most of my cards, I just love the hand painted bold font.

I added some sequins in the end, and adhered the front panel on to a cardbase.  That finished the card.

A question for you, how much stuff/how many tools do you use to make a card usually?  Well, these are the stuff I used to make this card (cardstock and vellum aren’t included):

I often laugh about myself and my obsession for craft supplies – why spent £2.50 to buy a card from a shop when you can use your £100 crafting tool to make one?!

Anyway, hope you like this card, see you soon on blogland.

Ta.

Say…

Hello there!

Today I’d like to share a card with you using my favourite technique – embossing resist.  First thing first, the card:

IMG_20170205_214550_796.jpg

To start, I used Altenew Capture Moments stamp set (link takes you to Seven Hills Crafts Online Store), stamped the camera image randomly on a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb card with embossing ink, then sprinkled white embossing powder all over it and heat set it.  I did this in stages to make sure I didn’t overlap the images.

Then I used Peacock Feathers Distress Ink and my mini blending tool, heavy-handedly covered the entire card with the ink, I even went back and forth a few times.  I then sprayed the panel with water, let it sit for a few seconds then dabbed off with a dry kitchen towel.  I love the water mark look almost bokah effect of the background.

I die cut some letters (say cheese )on a piece of orangy/redish card, I thought this sentiment would go quite well with the card.  But those letters were rather big, so I adhered ‘say…’ with some foam adhesive on the card front, then ‘cheese’ on the inside.  I coated all the letters with my shimmer pen, LOVE the subtle sparkles.

Thank you for stopping by today.  As a reward (lol), I’m going to show you some background that I’ve been working on, heavily inspired by Jennifer McGuire’s recent cards, can you tell (haha, so original…).

Hopefully very soon, these will be turned into cards.

That’s all for today.

Take care.
