Rainbow unicorn

Hello!

Today I have an easy and very colourful card to share with you that I made for a little girl who will turn 5 next week. She loves anything magical so this card is just perfect for her.

So for this card, I stamped Avery Elle Pegasus Duo Unicorn stamp on a piece of watercolor card using a mini misti, and I stamped a few times to get a dark and sharp image.

Then I painted all the images with blue masking fluid.

You need to make sure you let it dry completely before you work on the backgroud. In my case, I used water colour. I gave the paper a wet wash with clean water and used Gansai Tambi watercolour paint in rainbow colours painted the backgroud.

Watercolour always dries a few shades/degrees lighter, so I went back and forth a few times to get a bold look, but I made sure the paper was completely dry between each wash.

I left my final coat to dry overnight, then carefully peeled off the masking fluid, then added a few sequins to give an extra sparkle.

So that is it. Easy but quite time consuming, and you need to be very patient with it. I’m entering this month’s Tic Tac Toe challenge over at Seven Hill CraftsSeven Hill Crafts (animal, watercolour, bold).

I’ve linked up some key supplies that I used for the card to Seven Hill Crafts store.

Hope you like the card and thank you for stopping by. See you soon!

  1. Your bold and bright rainbow background is so awesome! Love it! What a great idea to make the unicorn standout just by leaving it black and white!
Thanks so much for playing along with us at Seven Hills Crafts!
